Filing opens Dec. 14 for school board elections

Filing opens at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, for those interested in seeking election to local boards of education.

Filing will end at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18.

Both the Lindbergh and Mehlville school boards have three open seats. All seats carry three-year terms.

At Mehlville, the terms of board Pres-ident Cindy Christopher, Vice President Matthew Chellis and Secretary Marea Kluth-Hoppe will expire in April.

Candidates may file at the Central Ad-ministration Office, 3120 Lemay Ferry Road.

At Lindbergh, the terms of board Presi-dent Mark Rudoff, Vice President Barry Cooper and Katie Wesselschmidt will expire in April. All three told the Call they intend to seek re-election.

Candidates may file at the Superinten-dent’s Office, 4900 S. Lindbergh Blvd., from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the first day of filing and on subsequent days until the deadline, according to a news release.

On Jan. 18, Lindbergh candidates have between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to file, one half-hour longer than the other days.

However, Lindbergh’s office will be closed on Dec. 24, Dec. 27, Dec. 30, Dec, 31 and Jan. 17 so filing will not be available those days.

Interested residents of their respective school districts who are U.S. citizens, 24 years of age or older and have resided in Missouri one year preceding the April 5 election are eligible for candidacy.

Under state law, if the number of candidates who file is equal to the number of positions to be filled by the election, no election will be conducted.

Otherwise, the election will take place April 5.
