Filing concludes for April 3 election

Candidate filing has closed, and the April 3 election will have several contested races.

In Crestwood, Tim Trueblood, 943 Gillespie Blvd., and Mary Stadter, 546 Aspen Drive, filed for the Ward 2 seat currently held by Chris Pickel, who did not file for re-election. The seat carries a three-year term.

Trueblood served as a Crestwood Ward 2 alderman from 1993 to 2006 when he became ineligible to seek re-election because of term limits.

Robert Deutschmann, 9700 Twincrest Drive, filed for the Ward 2 the seat currently held by Steve Knarr, who did not file.

The seat will have a one-year term.

Three additional aldermanic seats are up for election for three-year terms. Seats held by Darryl Wallach of Ward 1, Paul Duchild of Ward 3 and Deborah Beezley of Ward 4 will be up for election in April. Beezley did not file for re-election.

Wallach and Duchild filed and will be unopposed in April.

Dan Tennessen, 12142 Lowill Lane, and Steve Nieder, 9131 Cherry Brook Lane, filed in Ward 4. Nieder served as an alderman from 2006 to 2009.

In Grantwood Village, Chairwoman Cathy Forand and Village Clerk Pat Williams have filed. Also filing were Bill Hypes, 21 Vicksburg Circle; Walter Rust, 58 Grantwood Lane; and Will Larson, 25 Zinzer Court.

In Green Park, there will be one contested race. Mark Friederich, 11128 Patsy Drive, filed for Ward 2 against Jackie Wilson, whose seat is up for election.

Aldermanic seats held by Carol Hamilton and Fred Baras also will be up for election.

They will be unopposed in April.

All of the Green Park seats carry two-year terms.

In Sunset Hills, the mayoral seat held by Bill Nolan will be up for election April 3.

Nolan will be unopposed.

Aldermanic seats held by Frank Hardy of Ward 1, Tom Hrastich of Ward 2, Stephen Webb of Ward 3 and Claudia Svoboda of Ward 4 also will be up for election.

All of the Sunset Hills seats carry two-year terms.

Hardy filed for re-election and will be opposed by Richard Gau, 13019 Tapawingo Place.

In Ward 2, Hrastich withdrew his candidacy. Nancy Goldkuhl, 8861 Woodpark Drive, and Thomas F. Musich, 12207 Sunset Terrace, filed for Ward 2.

Webb will be unopposed in Ward 3 while former Mayor Mike Svoboda, 10231 Kennerly Road, has filed for the Ward 4 aldermanic seat currently held by his wife. Art Havener, 9825 Sunset Greens Drive, also filed for the Ward 4 seat.

Michael Sawicki, 1498 Royal Springs Drive, and Michael McGilligan, 12717 Nanell Lane, both filed for city collector.

Sawicki is a former Ward 1 alderman.

Besides the municipal seats, seats on both the Lindbergh and Mehlville school boards will be up for election April 3.

In Lindbergh, seats held by Ken Fey and Mark Rudoff will be up for election.

Candidates who filed are: James Goss, 11681 Rossmoor Lane; Karen Schuster, 31 Sappington Acres Drive; Kate Holloway, 11043 Rambling Oaks Drive; and George Rezabek, 8 Kahlia Way Court.

In Mehlville, Mike Wainz, 3508 Hidden Stone Court, Kathleen Eardley, 3515 Cabernet Way Court and Fred Padberg, 4750 Mehl Road, have filed.

Seats held by Tom Diehl and Ron Fedorchak will be up for election.

Fedorchak, who was appointed to the board to fill a vacancy when former board member Micheal Ocello resigned, has filed.

Diehl did not file for re-election.

Verbal Blakey, who had filed for the board, withdrew her candidacy on Jan. 19.

The Lindbergh and Mehlville seats carry three-year terms.
