County sponsors February deer walk, March hike

The St. Louis County Department of Parks and Recreation will offer a Whitetail Deer Walk at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, at Jefferson Barracks Park, Telegraph and Kingston roads.

Participants should meet at the Leuthauser Shelter at the intersection of Grant and Cye. The cost of the two-hour program is $3 per person and advance registration is suggested.

A park naturalist will lead the group on an after-hours walk through the park in search of herds of Northern Whitetail Deer.

Walkers will learn about the habits, habitats, foods and history of the Whitetail Deer.

The St. Louis County Department of Parks and Recreation also will sponsor a hike on Grant’s Trail beginning at 10 a.m. Sunday, March 7.

Participants will walk about six miles of paved level trail from Whitecliff Park to Reavis Barracks Road and back.

The cost is $3 per person and advance registration is required.
