The St. Louis County Police Department is undergoing a “Click It or Ticket” campaign with the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Illinois State Police from May 21 to June 3, including the Memorial Day holiday.

According to statistics from the Missouri Department of Transportation:

In 2017, 932 people were killed in traffic crashes on Missouri’s roadways, and 64 percent of the cars’ occupants were not wearing seat belts.

So far in 2018, Missouri has seen 240 traffic fatalities, with 61 percent of the cars’ occupants not restrained with seat belts.

Last year, 77 teenagers ages 15 to 19 were killed on Missouri’s roads, with 70 percent of the cars’ occupants not wearing seat belts.
