Five-year-old Katie Parmley was among a group of youngsters from the Lemay Child and Family Center who attended last week’s announcement by county officials of the St. Louis County Port Authority Community Reinvestment Fund. The Port Authority, which owns the site of the newly opened River City Casino, plans to use the majority of the $4 million it will receive annually in rent payments to help redevelop the area. County officials, including Economic Council and Port Authority Chair Sheila Sweeney, 6th District County Councilman Steve Stenger and County Executive Charlie Dooley, announced April 15 that demolition of a dilapidated building at 9854 S. Broadway would begin the next day to help revitalize the area.
