St. Louis County voters will get to decide on a new countywide sales tax for a St. Louis Zoo expansion after the County Council approved the tax last week.
The council voted 5-2 for the tax, mirroring an earlier vote that had dissenting votes from 6th District Councilman Ernie Trakas, R-Oakville, and 7th District Councilman Mark Harder, R-Ballwin.
It will appear on the November ballot.
Members in favor said voters should decide. But Trakas voted against the tax because of the “regressive, repressive nature of it,” he said.
