Conservation Foundation sets gala dinner, dance

The Foundation for Sunset Hills, also known as the Conservation Foundation, will sponsor its first Sunset Hills Gala Dinner and Dance at Sunset Country Club Saturday, Sept. 13.

“The Foundation for Sunset Hills is pleased to host its first annual Gala Dinner and Dance,” Ron Hack, president of the Board of Directors of the foundation, stated in a news release. “It is the perfect way to thank supporters, donors and residents of Sunset Hills as well as celebrate pride in our community.”

Cocktails begin at 6:30 p.m. with an open bar and hors d’oeuvres, followed by a sit-down dinner at 7:30. Entertainment by the Theo Peoples Combo will provide dance music from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. Dessert and coffee will be served at 10:30 p.m. when the bar closes.

The Theo Peoples Combo is led by St. Louisan Theo Peoples. Having performed with both the Temptations and the Four Tops, this classic-era Motown singer was first discovered at the Majestic Hotel in St. Louis, and later performed at such landmarks as Al Baker’s and The Seventh Inn.

Tickets to the fundraiser cost $125 per person, $250 per couple or $1,000 for a table of eight. Black-tie dress is optional, and dressy or cocktail attire is suggested.

Proceeds will support the efforts of the Sunset Hills Conservation Foundation, which supports the preservation and conservation of parks and green space in the city of Sunset Hills.

The most recent accomplishment of the foundation was the dedication of Kitun Park, named for Alexander Kitun, the first mayor of Sunset Hills, which accommodates dogs and their families in a friendly, fenced-in environment.
