Update, 3 p.m.: Mehlville Superintendent Chris Gaines received notice that the water was turned back on just after 2 p.m. Friday. He said an ACT test scheduled to take place at the school Saturday will continue as planned.

Classes at Mehlville High School were canceled Friday after a water main break on Lemay Ferry Road outside the school.

All other Mehlville School District schools are in session.

The water main break wasn’t actually inside the high school, but across the street.

The St. Louis County Police Department and Missouri American Water were at the scene of the water main break outside the Wallpaper Paint and More store across from the high school Friday morning. One lane of traffic was shut down, but was in the process of being opened back up.

The entire high school is without water due to the water main break. Only the Witzel Learning Center and the transportation facility on the campus have water, a district spokeswoman said.
