Church marks 50 years

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2030 Union Road, will celebrate its 50th anniversary Sunday, May 27.

The Rev. Dr. Gerald L. Mansholt, bishop of the Central States Synod, will preach and preside at the festival service.

The service of Holy Communion will be at 10 a.m. A banquet at the Royale Orleans for members, past members and former pastors will follow.

Besides Mansholt, special guests will include Pastor Emeritus Donald Krueger; Pastor Phil Nielsen, a former member of the congregation; Doug Cormack, former choir director; previous pastors; assistant pastors; and charter and council members.

The Rev. Dr. Michael Hoy, current pastor at Holy Trinity who has served the past nine years, stated, “This is a momentous milestone in the life of this congregation. Holy Trinity has seen many days and years of treasured memories. We are pleased especially to welcome back old friends, parishioners and colleagues who have contributed greatly to this congregation’s heritage. Even through the struggles of some years, this congregation has shown strong resilience, a joy of laughter and a loving hope in the promise of our Lord Jesus the Christ.”
