The Mehlville School District and students from Forder Elementary School helped present a check Dec. 21 for $22,474.75 to The BackStoppers Inc. in honor of St. Louis County Police Department Detective Antonio Valentine, who died in the line of duty Dec. 1. Valentine was a member of the Mehlville School District community. While he was not a district employee, he was a coach for the Junior Panthers football program, the Mehlville School District program for middle school students that feeds into the high school football program. Funds were raised through a district-wide “PJs for Police” fundraiser where students wore pajamas to school and brought a monetary donation.
