Charges were issued Monday against a St. Louis man after he left the scene of an accident that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.
The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office issued charges against Tony Artice, 37, of the 7300 block of Grand Drive, for leaving the scene of an accident – accident resulting in death. He is being held on a $25,00 cash-only, no-10% bond.
According to police, officers received a call around 5:52 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, for an accident involving a motorcycle and an SUV that left the scene on S. Lindbergh Boulevard near Flori Drive in Green Park.
The motorcyclist, identified as Michael Bartholomew, 41, of the 400 block of Constellation Drive in Arnold, was transported to Mercy Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Police said Artice later turned himself in at a St. Louis County Police Department precinct at 7:30 p.m. and told officers he was involved in the accident and had been driving the SUV that struck Bartholomew.
The SUV was located by police in the 5100 block of Maple Avenue in St. Louis City. The SUV showed damage where it had collided with the motorcycle. It was registered to the defendant.
