The Character Education Partnership, or CEP, a national advocate and leader for the character education movement, recently recognized five Lindbergh schools for developing ways to successfully reinforce character education as part of its Promising Practices program.
A total of 315 schools, districts and youth-serving organizations from the United States, Canada, China, Greece and Mexico earned Promising Practices distinction in 2014.
“These great idea offer educators and others working with young people practical ways to develop empathy, conflict resolution skills and good citizenship,” CEP Program Director David Keller stated in a news release. “CEP is excited to be able to recognize these wonderful educators and share their work with others around the world.”
Lindbergh’s latest group of CEP Promising Practices includes:
Crestwood Elementary — Crestwood Cultural Celebration.
Kennerly Elementary — HOPE Project.
Sperreng Middle School — Spirit With a Goal, or SWAG.
Truman Middle School — Schoolwide Veterans Appreciation.
Lindbergh High School — History Alive.
Lindbergh also received a districtwide Promising Practice for implementing the Mentoring with Marshall program, according to the release.
“We believe the academic success of our students is a direct result of the emphasis placed on sustaining a strong foundation of character development throughout our school community,” Lindbergh Character Education Coordinator Amy Richards stated in the release.
Each year, as part of the National Schools of Character program, CEP Promising Practices recognizes educators who have implemented unique, specific and effective character-education strategies. The 2014 recipients will be honored later this year at the National Forum on Character Education in Washington, D.C.
