Born in St. Louis, Mr. Swinford resided in St. Louis County for 15 years. He was a St. Louis County deputy sheriff and was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his mother, Jewell Swinford, and sister, Paula Skiles.
Services and visitation were at John L. Ziegenhein and Sons, south county. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery.
