SSM Cardinal Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital opened a new pediatric health care specialty services center in south St. Louis County Monday.
The new SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Pediatric Specialty Services building is located at 13000 Butler Crest Drive, 63128, and will offer the largest number of pediatric services in the area.
The 15,000-square-foot Concord facility was designed and constructed by Lawrence Group and officially opened Monday, Nov. 4.
The center will serve as part of an ongoing expansion of SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Pediatric Specialty services in the St. Louis region. The South County location will offer increased access and services closer to the communities in South County, Jefferson County and beyond. This means families will be able to receive expanded care from SSM Health and SLUCare providers without having to leave their communities.
“Our goal is to provide exceptional health care where children and families need it most — so they can focus on doing the things they love,” said Steven Burghart, president of SSM Health Cardinal Glennon. “Bringing our exceptional care closer to home is one way we can achieve this goal.”
Services offered at the new location will include x-rays, MRI and ultrasound, plus services such as endocrinology, gastroenterology, nephrology, neurology, ophthalmology, optometry, orthopedics, ENT, therapy services, psychology, rheumatology and sports medicine.
SSM Health first broke ground for the new South County location last November. This spring, they opened a similar facility in north St. Louis County, becoming the first providers in that area to offer pediatric specialty health care.
SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital is the only freestanding nonprofit Catholic pediatric hospital in the United States. It is a Level 1 pediatric trauma center serving both Missouri and Illinois. The 195-bed hospital is a member of SSM Health, one of the largest Catholic health care systems in the country. The hospital has a longstanding relationship with St. Louis University School of Medicine and serves as one of the teaching facilities for the school. Pediatricians practicing at the hospital are faculty of SluCare Physician Group, a clinical arm of SLU School of Medicine.
