Book on Grantwood Village to be released

The Grantwood Village Preservation Society will release a book about the history of Grantwood Village at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site, 7400 Grant Road.

The book, “The Town of Grantwood Village: the Story of a Historic City,” was written by residents Katy A. Forand and Kevin G. Bley.

After purchasing and rehabbing an 85-year-old home in Old Grantwood, Bley became interested not only in the history of his home, but of the area surrounding it. As a lifelong resident of Forest Haven, Forand grew up with an appreciation of the historical connections between the village and several famous individuals.

Together, and 144 pages later, they captured not only the history of neighbors and homes, but of every asset and historic aspect of Grantwood Village, according to a news release.

The hardcover book costs $45 and any proceeds from the sale will go “directly into the community we love,” the release stated.
