Missouri Secretary of State Matt Blunt last week discussed the Missouri First Vote program with Oakville Senior High School students in Rodney Gerdes’ social studies class. The First Vote program is a non-partisan, collaborative effort involving the Secretary of State’s Office, local election officials and a bipartisan board of directors designed to inform high school seniors about the voter registration process and to encourage participation in elections. Every Missouri secretary of state has supported the First Vote program since its inception in 1992. No tax dollars are used for the program, which is funded by private donations. Blunt is one of seven Republicans seeking the party’s nomination for governor in the August primary.
