To the editor:
You’re driving in your car, in a hurry. Perhaps you’re running late for something, and every second counts. And then you see a crosswalk turn to red. You stop, and there is nobody there. You are waiting for no one. This is the scene caused by jaywalking at trail crosswalks. Hitting the button, then not having the patience to actually wait for the light, and then crossing the street anyway. It is unsafe, it is illegal and it is discourteous.
If you are walking on a trail and you get to a light, please, just press the button and wait the few scarce minutes for the light to tell you to cross. Don’t put yourself in danger and make cars stop for people who are no longer there. You wouldn’t ding-dong ditch, you wouldn’t dine and dash, don’t press and walk.
