The Bayless School District is set to celebrate its 150th anniversary this weekend.

Bayless is inviting alumni and the public to celebrate at its 150th anniversary celebration at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 31, at Bayless Field at Bayless High School, 4532 Weber Road.

The family-friendly event will feature the Bayless Band, birthday cake, bounce houses and games.

A barbecue will start at 11:30 a.m., with festivities to follow.

“Bring your friends, family and neighbors for this celebration,” the district said in the event announcement. “If you have not been back to Bayless recently, come see the amazing things that are happening on our campus and with our students.”

The district is now repeating words that the first superintendent of Bayless, Violet Bascom, shared with the graduating class of 1932: “Bayless has set a high standard in the past, but the real spirit of Bayless is to aspire for greater excellence in the future. The future of Bayless is in your hands and hearts.”
