Ameren Missouri will be hosting two informational project open houses Wednesday to highlight a $30 million project to rebuild transmission lines in metro St. Louis.

The Metro South Reliability Project will rebuild approximately 10 miles of 138,000-volt transmission lines in St. Louis County and the region.

The morning open house is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. while the evening open house is from 5 to 7 p.m., both at the Affton White-Rodgers Community Center, 9801 Mackenzie Road, Affton.

The project will be rebuilt on the current right of way and will connect the Watson Substation in Shrewsbury to the Lemay Substation near Bella Villa, and across the Mississippi River to the final destination in Dupo, Illinois.

The rebuilt line will provide a more reliable energy grid that uses smart technology and utilizes clean sources of energy, according to a news release.

Attendees of the open houses will have the opportunity to learn about the project and talk through construction preparation efforts with Ameren’s team.
