This Labor Day weekend marks the 25th and final year that Bill and Nancy Schaper will host the annual Schaper Open barbecue and horseshoe tournament at their Oakville home. Names are drawn for partners and trophies and shirts that are embroidered are given to the winners each year. Many friends, family members, former co-workers and children attend the event. Because the Schapers, who will be married 50 years next June, are retired and have done this for so long, they have decided to end the annual Schaper Open on an anniversary year.
