St. Louis Regional Bomb and Arson detectives are currently investigating a house fire in the 5000 block of Peyton Place Court of the Affton-Southwest Precinct which resulted in the death of a 91-year-old woman.
The fire broke out at approximately 6:45 p.m. Dec. 18.
Officers who arrived at the scene found the house fully engulfed in flames with heavy smoke coming from the residence. Thick smoke prevented rescuers from immediately getting inside.
The victim was identified as Helen Roeslein. Authorities say the preliminary investigation determined the fire was accidental.
