Affton church offers free Thanksgiving dinner

Affton Christian Church, 9625 Tesson Ferry Road, will provide a free Thanksgiving dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 27 — Thanksgiving Day.

“This is the sixth year we are offering this free meal to the community. We know that many people continue to struggle, not only with finances, but also with feeling alone in the world,” the Rev. David A. Woodard, lead pastor of the church, stated in a news release.

The church served more than 350 meals last year — the majority of which were deliveries and carry-outs. This year, the church is preparing to serve 400 meals to those in Affton and adjacent communities.

“In addition to helping those who are hurting financially, we are finding more and more people who simply don’t want to be alone on Thanksgiving Day. Feeding the hungry and building community is part of our church’s mission,” Woodard stated in the release.

Delivery of meals or transportation to and from the church can be provided to south county residents.

For deliveries, transportation needs, additional information or to volunteer, call (314) 631-5777.
