The Affton and Bayless school districts partnered to celebrate Bosnian Independence Day with two community events celebrating culture, sports and film.
The first day of celebration – featuring an Affton vs. Bayless friendly soccer match and live Bosnian dancing, pictured above – was held March 1 at Bayless High School. The celebration continued March 3 at Affton High School with free Bosnian food and a screening of the new film “The Track,” a coming-of-age journey following three friends going for gold in post-war Bosnia while training on their destroyed luge track from the 1984 Sarajevo Winter Games. A Q&A with Bosnian Olympian Mirza Nikolajev and “The Track” director Ryan Sidhoo followed the screening.
