Pupils at Abiding Savior Lutheran School on Butler Hill Road raised $3,367.35 to help victims of Hurricane Katrina during September.
They collected chapel offerings each Wednesday and on Fridays were allowed to “dress down” by paying $1 to wear a hat, $1 to wear a T-shirt and $1 to wear jean shorts.
Pupils were enthusiastic to help and also happy about the opportunity to be out of dress code, according to a news release.
The funds were submitted to Thrivent Fi-nancial for Lutherans to be supplemented at $1 for every $2 raised for assisting with needs associated with the Hurricane Ka-trina disaster.
