The Special School District of St. Louis is co-hosting the 3rd annual St. Louis County Apprenticeship and Career Pathways Showcase with the Affton, Pattonville, and Rockwood school districts in March .
Families and students in grades sixth through 12th, as well as recent graduates, can attend one of three free events to learn about different careers through interactive exhibits and discussions with industry professionals.
The South County event is scheduled for Saturday, March 9 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at South Tech High School, 12721 Watson Road.
The showcase is sponsored by the American Welding School, and connects attendees with job opportunities rather than a traditional, four-year degree. Employers in the healthcare, advanced manufacturing, construction, information technology and public safety industries wil be onhand to share information. Some industries will also offer hands-on activities and opportunities to work with equipment for an immersive experience.
Another event is scheduled for Saturday, March 2 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at North Tech High School, 1700 Derhake Rd, Florissant, 63033. A previous event was held at Eureka High School in February.
