During ongoing Proposition S construction at Bierbaum Elementary, crews came across a sealed metal box inside the buildings original dedication stone from 1962. Bierbaum Principal Paul Morris and students opened the box during an assembly Sept. 14 and found an unsealed envelope containing a Board of Education motion from 1961 to name the school after former Superintendent Kermit O. Bierbaum. Students and staff will be putting together their own time capsule this year that will include the 1961 motion as well as mementos from present day.
