Two lucky lottery players who purchased tickets at two separate locations in South County have recently walked away with sizable winnings.

One unnamed winner won a $100,000 prize on a “$3 Million Supreme” Scratchers ticket purchased at Watson GasMart, 9666 Watson Road, in Crestwood. He originally purchased the ticket for a friend’s birthday gift, though he decided to keep it after finding out his friend did not want any gifts this year.

“Another friend alarmed me that this friend would prefer not to get any gifts, so opposed to giving the friend the ticket after I’d already purchased it, I gave him the cost of the ticket and a little extra,” he explained. “A month had passed, and I’d forgotten that I had the ticket. It was only when I was in the process of preparing to move that I remembered that I had it.”

When he eventually scratched the ticket, he at first did not believe he had won. He waited a few days before checking it, once at a gas station and again at a grocery store, before it finally set in.

“I actually thought I was hallucinating at first!” he said. “I scratched the first spot, and I said, ‘This can’t be right!’”

Though the winner has not yet decided what to do with the prize money, he shared that he will be giving “the friend a sizeable gift.”

Meanwhile, a different Missouri Lottery player in St. Louis County claimed a $50,000 Powerball prize. The winning ticket was sold at QuikTrip, 702 Lemay Ferry Road, for the June 29 Double Play drawing. Double Play allows players to play their same numbers again in a second drawing held directly after the main Powerball drawing.

The winning June 29 Double Play numbers were 2, 9, 24, 25 and 39, with a Powerball number of 14. The player’s self-selected numbers matched four of the five white-ball numbers drawn, as well as the Powerball number, to win $50,000.
