Lindbergh High School seniors Rounak Bera and Will Goetz have been selected for the 2017 Missouri Scholars 100, a statewide program that honors 100 of Missouri’s top academic students in the graduating class of 2017.
The two students will be recognized April 23 at a luncheon in Columbia. Both Rounak and Will scored a perfect 36 on the ACT in 2016.
Missouri Scholars 100 is a program sponsored by the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals. Schools across Missouri nominate candidates for this recognition, which is based primarily on a formula that uses each student’s grade- point average and ACT or SAT score.
“Students who are selected to this program have taken a rigorous course of study and have maintained the highest academic standards,” Phil Lewis, MASSP executive director, stated in a news release.
To be nominated, students must meet the criteria of an “Academic Decathlon,” including 10 events to ensure academic strength: minimum GPA of 3.75; minimum ACT score of 29 or SAT score of 2,400; class rank in top 10 percent; and completion of upper-level courses in math, science, English and foreign language.
They also must have excellent attendance, citizenship and involvement in activities.
