To the editor:
As a 14-year-old boy scout, I have reflected upon President Trump and his cabinet nominations and decided that these people do not align with my values, let alone the scout oath and law.
The scout law’s first point is trust. Cabinet nominations so far have included multiple people that I believe don’t fit those values, including Matt Gaetz, Pete Hegseth and Elon Musk.
The second point of the scout law is loyalty. As you probably know, Mr. Trump has judged his candidates solely on their loyalty to him and not the United States of America or the rule of law.
Another point in the scout law is kindness. Our president-elect has already proven that he is unkind by degrading everyone that opposes him, using insults, derogatory nicknames and threats of violence. There is an entire Wikipedia page about insults he has used, and his administration has even denied some because of their vulgarity. A
s you can see, the president-elect has not chosen his actions or followers well. As a young boy scout and aspiring leader, I fail to see why these people should be some of the most powerful in our country.
