The St. Louis County Department of Transportation is holding two public meetings this month about a roundabout project at the Yaeger Road and Milburn Road intersection in South County.
The first meeting will be held in-person from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15 in the Oakville High School library, 5557 Milburn Road.
Another meeting will be held virtually from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16. Access that at www.stlouiscountymo.gov/st-louis-county-departments/transportation-and-public-works/active-construction-projects/yaeger-milburn-roundabout-ar-1860/.
The project, named “Project AR-1860,” will turn the four-way intersection into a one-lane roundabout. The scope of work includes the addition of Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps and sidewalks, including a sidewalk extension on the northeast quadrant that will connect Yaeger Circle Drive to Milburn Road.
According to the transportation department, the Yaeger-Milburn intersection crash rate is among the 10 highest in the county, with 48 crashes between 2017 and 2020, 10 of those with injuries. A roundabout is expected to reduce crashes by 40%, improve congestion and reduce delays at the intersection.
The anticipated cost of the project is $2.296 million, which includes $1.609 million in federal funding.
Property rights acquisition is expected to take place in late 2024-2025. The project will go out to bid in spring 2026, with construction expected to begin in 2027 if it follows schedule.
