South County Toastmasters is celebrating its 30th year of service to the St. Louis area as a communications development and leadership training community resource.

Many of its accomplished members and award-winning public speakers will serve as hosts at these training modules, according to the news release.

Some of the South County Toastmasters actively involved in “Smart Communica-tion 2005” have high praise for the career value and personal enrichment the Toast-masters International program offers, the news release stated.

“Today, more than ever, being successful in business or the local parent group requires us to be able to put our ideas into words and make those words mean something,” South County Toastmasters Presi-dent Jack Bettag stated.

“A local Toastmasters Club like south county’s will give you the help you need to shake the fear of public speaking and learn to articulate your ideas forcefully and effectively in an audience-friendly style,” he added.

Susan Walden, a professional businesswoman and parent, stated, “South County Toastmasters helped me grow professionally and personally.”

“Through the support of caring, encouraging club members, I can now speak confidently in front of groups in different community settings,” she added. “I am much more comfortable giving presentations at work. And Toastmasters has helped me with my interviewing skills — something everyone can benefit from.”

Carl Hendrickson, retired south county state legislator and community activist, stated, “Toastmasters really helped me in my professional and government careers, as well as my personal life.”

A member of the Missouri House of Representatives for eight years and a retired attorney from AmerenUE, Hendrickson stated in the release, “Toastmasters really helps you learn how to communicate cleverly, succinctly and in an effective speaking style.”
