The St. Louis Prosecuting Attorney’s Office issued charges on suspect Devin Marcee, 25, on Aug. 29. Marcee has been charged with 15 counts of burglary, three counts of attempted burglary, one count of property damage, one count of attempted stealing of a motor vehicle and one count of attempted tampering with a motor vehicle.
Charges are merely an accusation. Marcee is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
The probable cause statement reads that Marcee’s burglaries and other crimes took place between Aug. 17-29. He was smashing doors of businesses, stealing items or opening register drawers to look for money.
These burglaries took place at a variety of locations including Telegraph Road, Bayless Avenue, Watson Road and Lemay Ferry Road. He also attempted to steal an ATM machine outside of a bank on Mackenzie Road.
On Aug. 24, Marcee is seen on surveillance footage breaking a car’s rear window and entering a 2019 Kia Sportage on Telegraph Road, but he was unsuccessful in starting the vehicle, so he left. He was arrested on Aug. 29 riding in a stolen vehicle at Lindbergh Boulevard and Union Road; in all the aforementioned crimes, he was seen wearing the same clothing on surveillance cameras as he was when he was arrested.
The St. Louis County Police Department Bureau of Crimes Against Persons detectives are handling this investigation.
