The Sunset Hills Police Department announced Monday that Officer Christy Meier died at her home Nov. 12 after working a night shift.
“It is with the heaviest heart that the Sunset Hills Police Department announces the unexpected passing of one of our officers,” a press release stated. “Officer Meier dedicated the last 14 years of her life in service of the residents of Jefferson County and Sunset Hills, serving as a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy from 2007 to 2013 and Sunset Hills Police Officer from 2013 to present. As an agency we are grieving, knowing each officer, like members of the community, had different and unique experiences with Officer Meier. Our most heartfelt condolences and sorrow to her loving family as she leaves behind a husband, two children, grandchildren, and numerous other extended family.”
The department has not provided any further information about her death.
Visitation for Officer Christy Meier will be held Thursday, Nov. 18 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Kutis Funeral Home located at 10151 Gravois Road in Affton. Memorial service will be held Friday, Nov. 19 at 10 a.m. at St. Justin the Martyr located at 11910 Eddie and Park Road in Sunset Hills.
The public is encouraged to line the procession route to show love and support for Officer Meier and her surviving family. The procession will begin at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 19 and will travel West on Gravois Road to Lindbergh Boulevard, North on Lindbergh to Eddie and Park and East on Eddie and Park to St. Justin the Martyr.
There will be traffic delays and several road closures in the area from 9-10 a.m.
