Sunset Hills and Crestwood debut new SunCrest Fest this September

The cities of Sunset Hills and Crestwood are introducing the SunCrest Fest this year, a joint festival celebrating both cities.

The event takes place from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018 at Kitun Park at 12343 Eddie and Park Road in Sunset Hills. It will be an old-school carnival with festival activities designed for all ages.

The fun starts with a parade and car cruise at 10:30 am.  Activities include professional carnival rides with two large attractions, classic carnival games and grass roots games hosted by local Boy Scout troops, live music by Last Gnome Standing and Steel Creek, more than 24 food booths, children’s activities and more. The festival is free, but there are fees for rides, food and games.

The Boards of Aldermen, park boards and mayors of both cities are excited about bringing this fun-filled collaborative carnival to life and hope to continue the tradition for years to come, according to a news release.

“We have learned working together and sharing ideas can only benefit our communities, and two heads are better than one,” Sunset Hills Mayor Pat Fribis said in the release. “By partnering with Crestwood for the SunCrest Fest we will deliver a quality experience to all who attend.”

Former Crestwood Mayor Gregg Roby, who resigned last week, shared the same sentiment.

“We look at each other and shake our heads, we are on the same page and when we work together it makes us twice as effective for those who live, work and visit our communities,” Roby said in the release.
