The St. Louis Royales recently won the Platinum Division of the American Amateur Youth Baseball Alliance’s 13-and-Under World Series.
Nineteen teams participated in the competition, which took place in Denver. The World Series featured nine teams from Colorado, five teams from Texas, one team from Kansas, one team from Oklahoma, two teams from Missouri and one team from Australia.
The Royales were one of four teams to make it out of pool play with a 3-0 record, including wins against the Colorado Drillers, the Lewisville Astros of Texas and the Queensland Dolphins of Australia.
The road to the championship consisted of three straight wins against strong Texas teams: Phoenix Baseball, Texas Rage and the Dallas Braves.
The Colorado Drillers worked their way back from a disappointing first-game loss to face the Royales again in the finals.
But the Royales’ hot bats proved to be too much with a team batting average of .473, which was a key to their 7-0 record and championship status.
The World Series’ win capped a successful season that included first-place finishes in four local tournaments, the St. Louis County League’s National Division and the Chesterfield League’s Gold East Division.
The Royales ended their season with a 62-9-1 record.
