Five St. Louis County Library locations are now spots where families can receive diaper donations thanks to the St. Louis Area Diaper Bank.

Families can pick up a supply of appropriately sized diapers or training pants for children ages 3 and under at the Florissant Valley, Lewis and Clark, Grand Glaize, Natural Bridge and Weber Road locations.

SLCL is hosting a diaper drive at all 20 branches throughout September, culminating in Diaper Need Awareness Week, Sept. 27-Oct. 3, 2021. The Diaper Bank is planning a series of special events for the week. Learn more at www.stldiaperbank.org/fill-the-warehouse.

“Statistics show that parents in St. Louis routinely struggle to afford the $1,200/year it takes to buy diapers. As a result, many parents try to ‘stretch’ diapers by lining them with newspaper, repairing them with duct tape, scraping them ‘clean,’ or simply leaving a soiled diaper on a child for too long,” a press release stated.

Kristen Sorth, director of the St. Louis County Library, said, “We are thrilled to continue working with the St. Louis Area Diaper Bank. We partnered before and especially during the pandemic to support families in our region who experience diaper insecurity. This expanded partnership will extend our reach in St. Louis County and will provide families with additional options for regular diaper assistance.”
