A St. Louis County Police Department South County Precinct captain was promoted to lieutenant colonel in June.

Police Col. Kenneth L. Gregory promoted South County Precinct Capt. James Schneider to the rank of lieutenant colonel on June 6.

Schneider joined the department in 1994 and previously served in the Affton Southwest Precinct, the Tactical Operations Unit, the Bureau of Drug Enforcement, the North County Precinct and the Office of the Chief of Police. He earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Central Missouri State University and has received 37 awards and commendations from the department.
