- Kick off Memorial Day weekend with an exploration of the origins of Memorial Day itself. Historian and curator Nick Sacco will deliver a “History Talk” at the Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site, 7400 Grant Road, from 1 – 2 p.m. Join him as he illuminates how the holiday was celebrated shortly after the Civil War and how it has evolved since then — even touching on Grant’s visit to St. Louis for the holiday in 1883. - This May, celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month with the Grant’s View Branch of the St. Louis County Library, 9700 Musick Road. The library will host a free scavenger hunt for children and families featuring Asian and Pacific Islander characters from beloved children’s books and movies from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

In honor of AAPI Heritage Month, discover the story of how Hawaii went from being an independent kingdom to a U.S. state in the 19th century. This educational event, meant for teens and adults, will take place from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the Grant’s View Branch of the St. Louis County Library, 9700 Musick Road.

Conducted by Saint Louis Vets Connect, “Veterans Coffee Talk” was created so veterans can enjoy the fellowship shared by all branches of service, providing a non-political atmosphere where their stories and valor can be shared. - At a volunteer appreciation luncheon, Sunset Hills Subaru plans to donate $110,000 to the Ritenour Co-Care Food Pantry. The dealership hopes to demonstrate its “continued commitment to supporting local families in need”. The luncheon will take place at 11 a.m. at the Sunset Hills Subaru showroom, 10100 Watson Road.
