- Watch a puppet show | Doug Mickan is bringing his puppets to the Meramec Valley Branch of the St. Louis County Library, 1501 San Simeon Way, from 2 – 3 p.m. Children and families are invited to listen to these fairytales with fun twists.
- Just dance | LGBTQ+ teens and allies are invited to Pride Prom at the Grant’s View Branch of the St. Louis County Library, 9700 Musick Road. This free event from 7 – 9 p.m. is for those ages 12 to 17, and registration is required. Visit slcl.org/events for more information.
Saturday, June 14
- Stretch out | A “gentle and foundational” class for yoga newbies will be held at the Grant’s View Branch of the St. Louis County Library, 9700 Musick Road, from 10 – 11 a.m. Teens and adults are invited — just remember to wear comfortable clothes and bring your own mat or towel.
- Learn about nature | The Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site, 7400 Grant Road, is one of 20 local historic sites participating in this year’s Historic Saint Louis Home & Garden Tour. The theme of this year’s event, “Landscapes of Summertime Past,” will be evident as participants will learn how our ancestors connected with the land in both ornamental and practical ways. Take the opportunity to enjoy the site’s new path through native grasses to Little Prairie Creek or spend time completing an activity in the rain garden. White Haven will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with ranger presentations at the top of the hour. This program is free and does not require reservations.

- Learn about landscaping | Learn how to incorporate easy, delicious and beautiful edible plants into your yard or garden at the Grant’s View Branch of the St. Louis County Library, 9700 Musick Road, from 10 – 11 a.m. This program, presented by Seed St. Louis, is free, though registration is recommended. - Practice your art | Get creative with Craft Lab at the Weber Road Branch of the St. Louis County Library, 4444 Weber Road. This free event from 5 – 6 p.m. is meant for anyone ages 6 to 17, and there will be a variety of craft supplies for them to experiment with.
Tuesday, June 17
- Connect with others | The Take-Off Pounds Assembly meets from 9 – 10 a.m. at 824 Union Road.
- See a show | The Cliff Cave Branch of the St. Louis County Library, 5430 Telegraph Road, is partnering with Swords and Roses to present “In Search of Buried Treasure” from 10 – 11 a.m. This action-adventure performance will involve the audience of children and families as they use clues to figure out a map.
- Just dance | In honor of Pride Month, join other children and families at the Rainbow Dance Party hosted by the Meramec Valley Branch of the St. Louis County Library, 1501 San Simeon Way, from 10 – 11 a.m. Wear your best rainbow attire and get down to music by LGBTQ+ musicians. Conducted by Saint Louis Vets Connect, “Veterans Coffee Talk” was created so veterans can enjoy the brotherhood shared by all branches of service, providing a non-political atmosphere where their stories and valor can be shared. Free donuts and coffee – and occasionally breakfast – will be provided.
- Connect with others | The Rotary Club of Crestwood and Sunset Hills meets at the Sunset Hills Community Center, 3915 S. Lindbergh Blvd., at noon.

- Learn about history | The Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site, 7400 Grant Road, is hosting “Call and Response: The Hidden Meanings Behind Negro Spirituals” from 11 a.m. – noon. The musical genre known as Negro Spirituals served special purposes in the lives of 19th century African Americans. This presentation by Gregory Carr explores the hidden meanings behind popular spirituals such as “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot,” “Steal Away,” “Michael Row the Boat Ashore” and “Wade in the Water.” Many of these songs were used by conductors of the Underground Railroad. This free program will take place under the historic black oak tree in the northeast corner of the park. Reservations are not required.
- Attend a concert | Summer is here and concerts are back at the Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site, 7400 Grant Road. From 7 – 8 p.m., catch The Lady J Huston Show – an electrifying blend of Las Vegas pizzazz with the sass of St. Louis blues, classic soul and jazz. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket to enjoy this free concert. Outside food and beverages are allowed.
