Some aldermanic races uncontested Tuesday

One aldermanic seat in Green Park and two aldermanic seats in Sunset Hills are uncontested in next Tuesday’s election.

In Green Park, Ward 3 Alderman Mark Hayden is unchallenged in his bid for a fourth two-year term. Hayden, 43, 9432 Southtowne Farms Drive, 63123, is a risk-control specialist. In a Call questionnaire, he did not respond why is seeking re-election nor identify the most important issue in the race.

In Sunset Hills, Douglas J. McGuire Jr. is unopposed in Ward 1 and will replace outgoing Ward 1 Alderman Michael Sawicki, who did not file for re-election.

Incumbent Ward 2 Alderman John Littlefield is unopposed in Ward 2. He did not respond to a Call questionnaire.

Both seats carry two-year terms.

Asked to identify the most important issue in the race, McGuire said, “A progression for the city for the next 50 years for the betterment of our children and citizens.”

McGuire, 57, 12501 Maret Drive, 63127, is an optometrist at the McGuire Vision Center. He also serves on the city’s Police Advisory Board.

He and his wife, Judy, have two children who attend Christ Community Lutheran School.

McGuire said he is seeking office “to help the city to continue to move forward.”

Asked to name other issues he perceives in this election, he said, “I am very much in favor of acquiring and upgrading the facilities at existing parks. I am in favor of using red-light technology at major intersections to keep our streets safer.”
