Resident celebrates her 100th birthday

Louise Castens Zdellar celebrated her 100th birthday with family and friends at a party hosted by her son and daughter, Ron (Carol) Zdellar and Judy (John) McGrath.

Born on Feb. 16, 1916, on the kitchen table in south St. Louis city, Louise has lived in St. Louis city and south county all her life.

She is blessed with five granddaughters and five great-grandchildren, and is looking forward to another expected to arrive in June. Outliving so many, including her husband, brothers and many friends and relatives, she still had nearly 100 guests celebrating her birthday with her.

Louise is a true St. Louis sports fan, keeping up with the Cardinals and Blues, watching on TV and going to games at any opportunity. When asked what is the secret to living to be 100 years old and looking as young and beautiful as she does, Louise replied, ‘I don’t know the secret, I just trust God and leave it up to him.’
