Missouri Rep. Jim Murphy, R-Oakville, hosted a food distribution event at Bernard Middle School on Nov. 3 to help combat the growing need for food amidst the government shutdown. The Mehlville School District, as well as Beth Boggs and Step It Up, Inc., assisted with the event.
In the end, $20,000 worth of food was distributed to people in need. The need in the community was so great, however, that 100 cars had to be turned away. Because of this persistent need, there will be another food distribution event at the South County Center, 18 S. County Center Way, on Nov. 13 from 10 – 11:30 a.m., or until supplies are exhausted.
No registration is necessary, and volunteers can arrive by 9:30 a.m. to help.
