Rep. Gary Fuhr, R-Concord, presented Trautwein Elementary School with official Missouri House resolutions honoring the school for achieving recognition as a National School of Character.

Principal Donna Wagener, accompanied by Karen Stuckmeyer and Julie Kurz, teachers and chairpersons of the character education programs, accepted the resolutions in the Missouri House of Representatives Chamber today — May 18 — while Trautwein Elementary students listened to the live Internet broadcast of the proceedings.

“Students, faculty, and parents at Trautwein are to be commended for their focus on character development and earning this prestigious honor,” Fuhr stated in a news release. “This is a very significant accomplishment, and I applaud them all for their commitment to our children, our schools and our community.”

The National School of Character Award is the highest honor a school can earn for its character education program. Trautwein Elementary, having been honored as a Missouri School of Character in 2011 and now as a National School of Character, has lived up to its school motto of “We’re Tigers of Integrity; We Care and We Share,” the release stated.
