Once again, St. Louis County Parks and Recreation and the Missouri Department of Conservation have teamed up to offer county residents a program to recycle unwanted, natural-cut Christmas trees through Jan. 19.
Residents can drop off their Christmas trees at one of four county parks locations during park hours – dawn to dusk:
- South County: Bee Tree Park – 2701 Finestown Avenue, 63129 – lake parking lot.
- West County: Creve Coeur Lake Memorial Park – 13777 Marine Avenue, 63146 – Sailboat Cove; and Queeny Park – 550 Weidman Road, 63011 – corporate parking lot off Weidman near the complex.
- North County: Spanish Lake Park – 12500 Spanish Pond Road, 63138 – main parking lot by the lake.
All trees must be cleared of all decorations – including but not limited to tinsel, ornaments and lights – before drop off. Only trees from residential homes will be accepted.
Some trees will be sunk by the Missouri Department of Conservation in lakes throughout the county Parks and Recreation system to create fish habitats. Trees that cannot be sunk will be mulched.
The county is also offering to recycle residents’ holiday lights. A collection drop-off near the entrance of Tilles Park, 9551 Litzsinger Road, will remain open through Jan. 26.
