Almost $86,000 for each school resource officer? That’s more than I made with 28 years of experience and two master’s degrees. 

They should be paying their teachers more if they’re willing to pay that for SROs.

Editor’s note: The Mehlville Board of Education approved a contract with the St. Louis County Police Department on June 6 for school resource officers. Seven officers and five patrol vehicles will be assigned to the district, with the initial one-year term costing $601,513.95 to cover the officers’ salaries and vehicles.
