The Missouri Public Service Commission will hold the last in a series of virtual local public hearings Friday to gather customer comment in water and sewer rate cases filed by Missouri American Water.

The virtual local public hearing for Branson and Joplin will take place at noon Friday, Jan. 29, but customers of Missouri American Water from any area of the state can make a comment at the meeting. Those who want to comment will have to register first; see information below.

To attend the public hearing by telephone, call 1-855-718-6621 at the time of the meeting, listen to the prompt and enter the access code 177 191 3281, followed by the pound/hashtag symbol. If prompted for a password, enter 0344.

To participate via video/internet, go to www.webex.com, click “join a meeting” in the right hand corner and enter the access code when prompted.

Last June, Missouri American Water filed water and sewer rate cases with the PSC to increase the current annual water and sewer revenues by approximately $735 million or 21.1 percent.

The utility company serves 470,000 water customers and 15,000 sewer customers in the state.

A staff member from the PSC will conduct a question-and-answer session at the beginning of each public hearing, followed by a formal public hearing.

Members of the public who wish to participate in the question-and-answer session or make a comment to the commission need to register first by sending their first and last name, phone number and email address to mawccomments@psc.mo.gov or by calling 1-800-392-4211 by 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28. Comments will be limited to five minutes.

Written comments can be mailed to the Missouri Public Service Commission, P.O. Box 360, Jefferson City, Missouri, 65102. They can also be sent electronically using the commission’s electronic filing system at psc.mo.gov/General/Submit_Comments. When submitting comments, refer to File No. WR-2020-0344.

This is the eighth and last hearing out the public hearings held by the PSC this month, including one for St. Louis Jan. 21, one for Arnold Jan. 22, one for Maryland Heights and another for Ferguson Jan. 25 and one for St. Charles, which included Jefferson City and Mexico, Jan. 26.

A press release from the commission said, “Any person may comment at any of the hearings” regardless of their service area.
