Katherine Pinner affirms candidacy for St. Louis County Executive

After reports that Katherine Pinner, the surprise winner of the Republican primary for St. Louis County Executive in August, was dropping out of the race for the general election, the South County author affirmed her candidacy for the election in November.

In an email to The Call Tuesday, Pinner included a link to a post on her blog affirming her candidacy for the county executive’s race in August, after supposedly telling the Republican Central Committee of St. Louis County that she would be withdrawing her candidacy Aug. 25.

Pinner was the surprise winner of the primary in August. She beat Rep. Shamed Dogan of Ballwin 56.1 percent to 43.9 percent after doing virtually no campaigning or fundraising. She faces incumbent Sam Page in November.
