Panel to eye changes to civil-service rules

The Crestwood Civil Service Board is scheduled to take another look next week at a series of changes to the city’s Civil Service Rules and Regulations.

The citizen advisory board will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, in the Administration Conference Room at 1 Detjen Drive in Crestwood.

At its July 22 meeting, the Civil Service Board approved recommending to the Board of Aldermen seven modifications to the civil service rules. However, aldermen voted unanimously Aug. 18 to table their vote on the issue to allow them more time to review the changes with the current rules.

As part of his motion to table the issue, Ward 3 Alderman Jerry Miguel asked that his and former Civil Service Board member Martha Duchild’s concerns about the changes as proposed be communicated to the current Civil Service Board. Therefore, aldermen were not scheduled to consider the issue at their meeting Aug. 25 in light of next week’s Civil Service Board meeting.
