The Mehlville School District’s Compensation Review Committee voted unanimously last week to send two merit-pay plans to negotiations teams for the Board of Education and district teachers.
In a 10-0 vote Feb. 12, the panel agreed to send the plans to negotiations teams. The Mehlville Board of Education plans to take a vote on the plans when it meets at 7 p.m. today — Feb. 20 — in the Administration Building, 3120 Lemay Ferry Road.
One of the plans, developed by board member Elaine Powers in conjunction with a merit-pay subcommittee, places group goals over individual ones, with no cap on the top rate a high-achieving teacher could earn.
The second plan, submitted by Oakville Middle School English teacher Derek Norton, includes actual salaries teachers could earn based on merit pay.
The two plans could work in conjunction, with Norton’s plan placed into Powers’ plan, board President Mark Stoner said.
