Barbee Chapter No. 31 of the Order of the Eastern Star recently ‘adopted’ a solider serving in Iraq and honored him and chapter veterans during a recent dinner. Spec. William ‘Bill’ Megl of Affton is a Bayless High School graduate now serving with the U.S. Army 89th Transport-57th Battalion in Iraq. Megl is the best friend of the chapter’s associate matron, Angela Arnold. Because Megl had to return to Iraq and miss the holidays, the chapter had a turkey dinner to honor him and the chapter’s veterans — Pete Cavic, Ray Sutterer, Gene Warder and Pete Duncan.
